Nigerian troops rescue 25 hostages from Boko Haram captivity
In ongoing efforts to clear Boko Haram terrorists’ enclaves in Borno and neighboring states, troops from the 144 Battalion have successfully rescued 25 hostages who were held captive by the terrorists. The Army Public Relations Director, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, released a statement on this development.
According to the statement, the troops, in collaboration with a Hybrid Force, conducted a clearance operation in Gobara village, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno, on Saturday. In this operation, they rescued 14 hostages, including six women and eight children.
Additionally, troops from the 82 Task Force Battalion, working with the Hybrid Force, raided a Boko Haram enclave in Gava Village, also in Gwoza Local Government Area, on Sunday. This operation resulted in the rescue of 11 civilians.
All the rescued individuals are currently in the custody of the troops and undergoing profiling to ensure their safety and well-being.
In a separate operation, seven members of a Boko Haram family surrendered to troops from the 81 Division Task Force Battalion in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno on Sunday.
Furthermore, in an anti-banditry operation in Kaduna State, troops from the 2 Battalion, Nigerian Army, acting on credible information, neutralized a criminal and freed four kidnap victims in Kwana Shehu Village, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. The rescued victims have been reunited with their families.
The statement concludes by urging members of the public to provide credible information to support the troops in their ongoing operations across the country.
