“Following his arraignment and subsequent release on N10 million bail, businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, took to Instagram to assert his financial status.
In an Instagram post shortly after his court appearance, Cubana Chief Priest expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and declared, ‘CP (Cubana Priest) is not small. Money na water (sic),’ emphasizing his financial prowess.
The Federal High Court in Lagos granted him bail with two sureties in like sum after he pleaded not guilty to charges of tampering and abusing the naira. The charges stem from allegations that he sprayed and tampered with the nation’s currency at a social event, contrary to provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007.
According to the charges, Cubana Chief Priest allegedly sprayed the naira during a social event at Eko Hotel on February 13, 2024, and tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 notes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying them for two hours.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) accused him of similar actions during a social event in Lagos in 2020 and January 2024, violating Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.
