Tinubu sacks Gwandu as CEO of NASENI, appoints 32-year-old Khalil Halilu as replacement

President Bola Tinubu has made significant changes to the leadership of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) by appointing Khalil Suleiman Halilu as the new Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the agency. This decision has led to the termination of Bashir Gwandu’s tenure as EVC/CEO of NASENI.

According to a statement released by the president’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, Khalil Suleiman Halilu’s appointment is in accordance with the relevant sections of the NASENI Act, 2014. He will serve an initial term of five years in this role.

Khalil Suleiman Halilu, at the age of 32, brings with him substantial experience as an innovator and technology expert, which is expected to be instrumental in his new national assignment. The President’s directive has taken immediate effect, signaling the start of Mr. Halilu’s leadership at NASENI.

This appointment reflects the government’s commitment to advancing science, engineering, and technological innovation in Nigeria through NASENI’s critical role in these areas.
