BREAKING NEWS: TROOPS OF OPERATION HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) RESCUE FORMER PROVOST, SON IN ZAMFARA STATE

On August 11, 2023, troops belonging to Sector 1 of Operation Hadarin Daji were deployed at Forward Operating Base Mada in Zamfara state, Nigeria. They were conducting a routine patrol along the Shemori – Yandoto road in the Marke general area when they encountered an unspecified number of armed bandits. A firefight ensued between the troops and the bandits, lasting for several hours.

The superior firepower and tactics of the Operation Hadarin Daji troops forced the bandits to flee in disarray into the nearby forest. The troops, undeterred, immediately pursued the fleeing bandits into the forest. This pursuit led to the successful rescue of two civilians who had been abducted by the bandits. The rescued individuals were identified as Dr. Hassan Abubakar Augie, a former Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical) Gusau, and his son.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the bandits had abducted Dr. Augie and his son from their residence the previous night. The bandits had taken them into the forest before the timely arrival of the Operation Hadarin Daji troops. The successful rescue operation allowed the victims to be reunited with their families, leading to jubilation among their loved ones.

In addition to the rescue, the troops managed to recover two operational motorcycles that had been abandoned by the fleeing bandits. The Operation Hadarin Daji troops continue to maintain aggressive vigilance and conduct patrols in the general area to ensure the safety and security of the region.
