President Bola Tinubu Directs Distribution of Grains in Abuja Following Warehouse Invasion
In response to the recent invasion of its Agriculture Store in the Gwagwa/Karmo axis of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced that President Bola Tinubu has directed the distribution of grains to residents to alleviate their suffering.
At a maiden meeting with Area Council chairmen and other stakeholders, FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, announced the constitution of a Committee tasked with carrying out the presidential directive within less than two weeks.
Expressing disappointment with the council chairmen for their perceived disregard of the invitation to the meeting, Dr. Mahmoud warned against any actions that could undermine the president’s goodwill towards the territory’s residents.
She revealed, “Yesterday, we received this letter from the Presidency through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) regarding the recent attack on our warehouses in Gwagwa. Alongside the devastation, Mr. President, Bola Tinubu, has been actively seeking solutions to alleviate food insecurity.”
The Committee, comprising various stakeholders including chairmen of Area Councils, security agencies, faith-based organizations, and civil society groups, has been tasked with ensuring transparency in the distribution of the palliatives and making necessary preparations for their delivery.
Dr. Mahmoud emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that the directive must be fulfilled within the stipulated two-week timeframe.
The initiative aims to provide relief to residents affected by the food insecurity resulting from the recent warehouse invasion, reflecting the government’s commitment to addressing the welfare needs of its citizens.
