Mohbad’s death: I have no hand in Mohbad’s death, says Naira Marley

    Singer and songwriter Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has spoken out about the allegations surrounding his involvement in the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. Naira Marley denied any direct or indirect involvement in Mohbad’s death.

    In a statement posted on his verified Instagram handle, Naira Marley expressed his shock and grief over Mohbad’s passing and extended his condolences to the deceased’s family. He also acknowledged that there had been misunderstandings between them while working together but emphasized that their disagreements were not as extreme as portrayed by some.

    Lack of Involvement: Naira Marley categorically stated that he had no hand in Mohbad’s death, either directly or indirectly. He emphasized that he had no reason to harm Mohbad and was cooperating with the police investigation.

    Legal Efforts to Resolve Disputes: Naira Marley mentioned that legal efforts were made to resolve business disputes between them before Mohbad’s passing.

    Cooperating with Police: He expressed his commitment to cooperating with the police team and was making arrangements to return to the country to assist with the investigation.

    Reconciliation and Departure: Naira Marley clarified that Mohbad left the Marlian Music label in September 2022, and the label accepted his departure. He stated that Marlian Music did not interfere with Mohbad’s career after his departure.

    Rumors and False Accusations: He denied rumors that Marlian Music was involved in drug-related activities or cult affiliations. He also denied instructing anyone to harm or harass Mohbad.

    Support for the Investigation: Naira Marley called for supporting the police and authorities in their efforts to uncover the truth surrounding Mohbad’s death. He expressed confidence that the truth would prevail.

    Condolences and Commitment: He shared his deepest condolences with Mohbad’s family and promised to do right by him and his family.

    The death of Mohbad on September 12, followed by his burial on September 13 in Lagos, led to controversies regarding the cause of his death. The police subsequently exhumed his body on September 21 for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
