2 dead, 5 injured in Ondo road accident

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State has reported a tragic accident that occurred on Friday night in the Olokuta area along the Akure-Ondo road. According to Ezekiel SonAllah, the sector commander of the FRSC in the state, two individuals lost their lives, and five others sustained injuries in this unfortunate incident.

Mr. SonAllah confirmed these details during a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday. The accident involved a total of six male adults and one female adult, occurring at approximately 5:48 p.m. He identified the vehicles involved as a Nissan Primera commercial vehicle with the registration number FGB-96XA and a Honda Accord car bearing the registration number MUS-834 AL.

The sector commander attributed the cause of the crash to speeding, emphasizing the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations. Tragically, two male adults lost their lives at the scene of the accident, while four male adults and one female adult sustained injuries.

To handle the aftermath of the incident, the deceased individuals have been taken to the Ondo State Specialist Hospital morgue in Akure, and the vehicles involved have been handed over to the police. Mr. SonAllah also issued a stern warning to motorists, urging them to consistently comply with traffic laws, as any violations would be met with arrests and prosecution.

This unfortunate accident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of safe and responsible driving, emphasizing the need for all road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
