Court Affirms Ganduje’s Suspension As APC National Chairman
“Kano State High Court Upholds Suspension of APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje”
“A recent ruling by the Kano State High Court has affirmed the suspension of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The court issued an ex parte order, restraining Ganduje from representing himself as a member of the party.
Justice Usman Malam Na’abba granted the order on Tuesday following an ex parte motion filed by Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani, represented by their counsel Ibrahim Sa’ad. The plaintiffs, identified as executive members of the APC Ganduje ward, cited Ganduje’s alleged misconduct and misappropriation of public funds as grounds for the suspension.
The court’s ruling directs Ganduje to refrain from overseeing the affairs of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC. The suspension comes after Ganduje’s ward in Ganduje, Dawakin Tofa local government area of Kano State, suspended him on Monday over corruption allegations.
Haladu Gwanjo, the legal adviser of the ward, cited gross misconduct and misappropriation of public funds during Ganduje’s tenure as the basis for the suspension. The ward’s executive members passed a vote of no confidence in Ganduje due to his alleged involvement in corruption scandals, including the widely circulated video purportedly showing him receiving bribes from a contractor.
However, the Kano State Working Committee of the APC swiftly responded by nullifying Ganduje’s suspension and dismissing the ward leaders involved in the decision. Inusa Dawanau, the APC Dawakin Tofa Local Government Chairman, accused the suspended ward leaders of engaging in anti-party activities and revealed their alleged connections with the opposition.
In addition to the suspension, the State Working Committee (SWC) sanctioned the ward leaders for six months and initiated an investigation into the allegations against them. The APC National Working Committee (NWC) has also urged the Inspector-General of Police to probe the individuals behind Ganduje’s purported suspension, emphasizing that they are not legitimate APC officials.”
