Five dead after small plane crashes near US highway

In Nashville, Tennessee, tragedy struck on Monday as a small private plane crashed near a highway, claiming the lives of five individuals, as reported by local law enforcement. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department announced via social media platform X that all five occupants aboard the aircraft perished in the accident, alongside a disturbing image showing the wreckage of the single-engine plane.

Upon their arrival, responders from the Nashville Fire Department were met with a significant blaze. According to Nashville police spokesperson Don Aaron, the aircraft had experienced engine and power failure around 7:40 pm local time (0140 GMT Tuesday). Despite receiving clearance for an emergency landing at Nashville’s John C. Tune Airport, the plane tragically went down just a few kilometers from its destination.

Authorities have disclosed that both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will launch investigations into the incident to determine its cause.
