Court Okays Substituted Service On Mohbad’s Wife For DNA Test

“Substituted Service Granted on Mohbad’s Wife in Paternity Dispute”

“The Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has granted a substituted service on Wunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, in the ongoing paternity dispute over baby Liam. The court’s decision allows Joseph Aloba’s legal representatives to serve notice of a pending DNA test application by posting documents at Wunmi’s last-known address.

This development follows unsuccessful attempts by the court sheriff to personally deliver the documents to Wunmi. Emmanuel Oroko, leading the legal team, argued for substituted service after two failed attempts to reach her directly.

Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba family’s legal team, explained, “If the process were served on the last-known address of the respondent by Order of the Court, it would constitute good service and she would be aware of the pending suit.” The Chief Magistrate granted the order for substituted service.

The Aloba family contests baby Liam’s paternity and seeks a DNA test, filed before the Family Court, requesting Wunmi to present herself and the baby for testing at a recognized Lagos laboratory.

While Wunmi, in a viral video, expressed readiness for the DNA test, she has reportedly been unavailable for the court sheriff to serve her the originating motion. The matter has been adjourned until next month for the report of service.

In response to the court order, Wunmi’s lawyer, Taiwo Olawanle, expressed unawareness of the order, stating, “We don’t have the court order. If we have an order, we will advise her to adhere to it.” Further developments are awaited as the legal proceedings unfold.”
