Okuama Killings: Police hand over wanted Delta royal father to military authority
In a development in Delta State, the Police Command has transferred Clement Ikolo, the traditional ruler of Ewu kingdom in Ugheli South Local Government Area, to military authorities. This action follows Ikolo’s surrender to the police in Asaba on Thursday, marking a significant turn in the ongoing investigation into the tragic events surrounding the alleged killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama Community on March 14, 2024.
According to reports confirmed by the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, Ikolo was handed over to the military on Friday. His surrender and subsequent transfer come amidst heightened tensions and a concerted effort by law enforcement agencies to bring all individuals implicated in the incident to justice.
Ikolo finds himself among a group of eight individuals wanted by the military authorities in connection with the alleged attack on the soldiers during a peacekeeping mission in Okuama Community. Among those wanted alongside Ikolo are the President-General of Ewu, Prof. Arthur Ekpekpo, and several others whose involvement is under scrutiny.
Before surrendering himself to the police, Ikolo vehemently denied any involvement in the tragic events and expressed shock at being implicated. He emphasized his unwavering commitment to peace and asserted his cooperation with the government’s efforts to reconcile disputes within the kingdom.
