24-year-old UNIPORT student stabs girlfriend to death – Police
Police in Edo State have arrested a 24-year-old student from the University of Port Harcourt in connection with the alleged stabbing death of his girlfriend. The Commissioner of Police in Edo, Muhammed Dankwara, revealed this to the media in Benin, stating that the suspect was reported to the police by his landlord.
According to the landlord’s account, the student allegedly stabbed the young lady multiple times in the neck and chest using a knife. In response to the report, the police swiftly took action, apprehended the suspect, recovered two knives from him, and rushed the victim to the hospital. Unfortunately, the victim did not survive, and her body was deposited in a morgue.
Items recovered from the suspect included two blood-stained knives, two iPhones, one Nokia phone, one laptop, and two ATM cards. The case has been transferred to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Benin, and the suspect is expected to face murder charges in court soon.
The suspect claimed that the deceased had traveled from Asaba to spend time with him in Benin, but an argument erupted when he discovered what he described as fetish substances in her possession. This argument allegedly led to the fatal altercation where both individuals stabbed each other.
In another case, the police arrested a 25-year-old individual for allegedly defrauding an 18-year-old of N5.2 million. The suspect was found in possession of fake denominations of foreign currencies and charms used for manipulating and hypnotizing victims. He has already provided a confession to the police and is awaiting arraignment.
Additionally, the police commissioner announced the arrest of a 31-year-old individual for releasing nude pictures of his ex-girlfriend to the public and another individual on charges of alleged rape. Another suspect, a member of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service, was arrested on suspicion of murder for allegedly shooting his victim to death.
